The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) was established in 1996 with the aim of improving the level of mathematics education for young people in the UK and providing various national-level mathematics assessment activities for pupils of different ages. Among the numerous mathematics assessment activities organized by UKMT, the most important are three levels: Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC), Intermediate Mathematical Challenge (IMC) and Senior Mathematical Challenge (SMC). Each year, these activities attract over 700,000 pupils from more than 6,000 schools across the UK, making it the largest and most influential national-level mathematics assessment activity in the country. It is also an important channel for selecting participants for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
On April 27, 2023, the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust Junior Mathematical Challenge (UKMT-JMC) was held at Hiba Academy Nantong. Nine pupils from our school participated in this competition. The awards for JMC include Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Although Hiba Academy Nantong is newly established and the number of participants was limited, several pupils still achieved excellent results and won awards.

The UKMT mathematics assessment encourages pupils to use logical reasoning skills, develop mathematical thinking, and apply basic mathematical methods to solve various novel and interesting problems. This aligns with the teaching philosophy of our school's mathematics curriculum, which aims to enhance pupils' mathematical core competencies. Our teachers also strive to inspire pupils' curiosity and guide them through rational exploration during mathematics classes, which is in line with the UKMT's approach. In the future, we will continue to promote international assessment events and activities across various subjects and disciplines, providing pupils with more extensive opportunities to develop and showcase their abilities and talents!
Congratulations once again to all the award-winning pupils from our school, and thank you to all participants for their hard work. It is an honor for us to share this achievement together.
Finally, Wish all Hiba pupils the best of luck in various international competitions, where they can showcase their talents and continue to grow and improve through hard work and perseverance!
