There were many brightly colored figures along the Yangtze River on Thursday: they wore gloves and held tools such as garbage bags and tongs, collecting the rubbish on the beach one by one, attracting many onlookers. Our pupils gathered on the Yangtze River to celebrate the 55th Earth Day and respond to this year's theme of "Planet vs. Plastics" with their actions. The pupils' actions not only restored cleanliness to the river bank but also injected infinite vitality into the quiet riverbank with their laughter and joy.
This activity was carried out on a house basis, and pupils of all ages, genders, and nationalities united as the stewards of the earth to carefully seek and clean up every piece of plastic garbage. The addition of house competitions made the event even hotter, and their positive atmosphere quickly influenced other citizens who were playing along the riverbank, and many people spontaneously joined in the ranks of garbage collection. The pupils hope that this activity will spread the concept of environmental protection to everyone's hearts like seeds sprinkled in the spring, blooming into flowers that cherish the earth and leaving a beautiful scenery for our beloved mother river.
Furthermore, in the afternoon assembly, they expressed their thoughts and insights on protecting the earth in various ways on stage. Some made fashion and art from recycled materials, while others analyzed and studied wasteful behaviors in life, proposed practical and effective suggestions around the concept of environmental protection, and committed themselves to creating a more environmentally friendly Hiba campus.
In addition to classroom and school activities, every member of Hiba community pays close attention to the practice of environmental protection concepts in daily life: the pupils’ union advocates reducing the use of plastic products during lunch breaks, the school uniform store reduces waste by selling discounted unclaimed uniforms, the facilities department posts the slogan "Save Energy, Start with Me" on every switch, and the catering department also holds a vegetarian day event to promote energy saving and emission reduction.
At Hiba Academy Nantong, we hope that pupils can not only achieve academic success in their studies and life but also cultivate lofty aspirations to serve society and contribute to a better future world.
