Wellingtonians see another year of outstanding exam scores

Wellington College International Shanghai’s pupils broke another school record in this year’s IB examinations, achieving an average score of 39.2. That is well above the global average of 31.9! Over half of the pupils who sat the examination achieved a score of 40+, and one pupil achieved a perfect score of 45. 

Considering the challenges our pupils faced last spring with local distance learning mandates, these accomplishments are all the more impressive.

Our pupils at Wellington College Tianjin made a spectacular showing on their A Level examinations with 37% earning A* and 64% earning A*/A grades. 15 pupils received all A* or A grades, and three pupils achieved all A*. 

Pupils performed especially well in further maths and English literature with 100% earning A*/A grades. They also exceeded expectations in Chinese and geography with all pupils receiving A*.

Across all Wellington College China schools, pupils made big strides in their IGCSEs. 46% of the pupils achieved A*, and 69% received A*/A. The most common grade awarded to our pupils was A* or 9, at 42%. 

100% of them earned A*/A in Chinese examinations (first language, second language and foreign language). Our pupils also performed admirably in maths, with 90% receiving A*/A.
