Our amazing Book Week!

Huili School Nantong has always been dedicated to assisting children in cultivating a love of reading. In addition to providing a library with many books, the school also integrates reading into the curriculum, allowing pupils to improve their reading skills and cultivate their interest in reading while studying various subjects. In addition, the annual Book Week is a long-awaited activity for pupils, and this year there is no exception! The library team has carefully designed a week-long event, celebrating this fun week with the entire Hulit community through multiple activities.

Our pupils' understanding of the literature they read were incorporated into a competition to design the best bookmarks. Pupils were able to portray their interaction with the author's thoughts through using their brushes to visualize what they were thinking. An actual bookmark featuring the winning submission will be produced and circulated throughout the library for the following year.

Parents, teachers, and non-academic staff from our Huili Community had the opportunity to read a book, a chapter, or a story to a class. The inclusion of these "Mystery Readers” in the classroom added an element of surprise and fun.

We organised a Book Fair for pupils during Book Week. Everyone explored the books thanks to the fair's convenient location in the library. A wide selection of books on many subjects were available in both English and Chinese. Every child found a book on their "wish list".

In April, the library team also invited the famous author Bali Ray to the school to host a talk and interact with teachers and pupils. Stay tuned for more information!

We hope to cultivate the love for reading among our pupils while improving their knowledge through curriculum design and diverse activities. Through reading, pupils can enrich their world, grow their ability, and setting a clear direction in life. Laying a foundation for good reading and writing abilities can help improving language abilities, cognitive abilities, as well as personal, social, and emotional development.
